i absolutely tried everything i could do to avoid using windex but i had to to clean it with windex. wat should i do b4 i put fish in it?

Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever use soap or anything other then water.
I'm not even sure if you would want to put fish in it now.

But i would clean it with water for hours ( not boiling because that could wreck the sealant )
Then i would set it up and let it run for about a week without fish!. ( make sure you have a filter )
p.s if it were a saltwater tank you could be screwed

i rinsed it for like 30min when washing and made sure it didnt dry on it... then i rinsed it again with hot water

Ever? :chillpill:

As long as you rinse it multiple times, you should be fine.

ok, you've been scolded properly..

now, rinse it well with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and clean water. wipe it down with a clean dry cloth. then leave it in the sun to dry for a few days, even a week. then set it up, cycle it and use it.

and in the future, only use white vinegar/water and magic erasers (with no soap) to clean your tanks.

thxx for all the advice guys making sure it's safe witha feeder goldfish ran it for 2 days b4 adding him. Looking good atm and putting in plants if he lives through tm and wed :)
