Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here:
So I set up my 75 gallon tank about 3 weeks ago, and everything had gone great (except for getting some neon tetras that had internal parasites) until Wednesday.
Stocking:
1 Rainbow Shark
2 Denison Barbs (will be 5 soon)
6 Columbian Tetra
4 Ember Tetra (had a school of 6 for a few years, not buying anymore though)
3 Neon Tetra (Had 7, 4 died from parasites)
3 Danio (remnants of an old school, will be adding a few more as soon as I can)
2 Oto (will be adding 4 more when there is more of a demand for them in the tank, I think some would starve if I added them right now)
Wednesday night, I noticed that some of my Columbians had 1-2 white spots on them, and realized I had Ich in my tank. Throughout Thursday, I cranked up the temperature to 87 F, and have kept it there since then. I noticed a white spot on one of my ember tetra (which has gone away) and just saw some spots on my old, and kinda weak neon tetra, but other than that, the Ich seems to be contained to only my Columbian's.
I added 25 tablespoons of Aquarium Salt yesterday, and now it looks like 2 of the Columbians have no more spots on them, however one has about 5-6 now. (Edit: Official count: 2 Columbians have no spots, 3 have 1 spot, and one has 6-7, the neon has 2-3 spots, nothing on all the other fish)
But here is where the real problem comes in: I ordered 20 Cardinal Tetra last Tuesday to add to the tank, expecting them to show up last Thursday. It looks like they will actually show up this upcoming Thursday, and I don't feel entirely comfortable adding them to tank right now. I can set up a 10 gallon quarantine tank using the AC 30 on my 75 as an already seeded filter, but I'm apprehensive about doing that since I am going to go on Vacation on Sunday for a week, and don't want them in a smaller, more unstable tank that could have Ich in it since I have to use a filter from my 75.
So, should I just ride the ich out and hope its gone by Thursday and introduce the Cardinals straight into the tank, or should I stick them in the 10 gallon for a week or so while I'm away. Or maybe should I quarantine every fish showing signs of Ich instead?
I guess I also have an empty 55 I could use to quarantine fish as well, but it would also use a filter off of my 75 (AC 70).
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks
