what should I feed my gar?

I feed him mostly goldfish which I know arent very good for him I also breed guppies and feed him them but only around 1 a week because they dont get big very quick. what else could I feed him so I do

I had mine eating thawed shrimp cut to size and tilapia.

All of mine were use to live as well but switched pretty quickly. No worries

Try starving him for a few days, then throw in shrimp or krill, gars seem to get a taste for it quickly

You could get it to eat pellets also but it takes patience.

I feed tilapia pieces as a staple and mix in shrimp, scallops and night crawlers.

If you get him on shrimp or tilapia stuff a pellet or two inside for the extra nutrition.
