I have a dwarf gourami and a small guppy and i want to get more fish , but i'm really picky and i son't really know that much about fish so if someone could let me know what would be a good choice and maybe put some pics. with it that would be the bomb. I love you guys. Thanx!!! :headbang2

answer pirahnas questions first but assuming you know all you need to about keeping fish properly and the fact that you only have two fish means you are probably taking your time gradually building up the tank thats a good thing.

firstly the amount of fish you can have depends on the size of your tank the general rule is one inch of adult fish per gallon. a 20 gal tank can have 20 inchs of fish.

you have a community tank so you need community fish. try to stay away from semi aggressive community fish like tiger barbs. but there are many fish you can add.

dont get mollies as really they do need at the least a brackish tank as they age.

consider a loach of some sort maybe even two or three. personally im a big fan of the yoyo loachs they look amazing.

look for rainbow fish.

most tetras are fine and neons are always a firm favorite.

blue or red rams are stunning looking fish get those if you have the room.

i could go on but will let some others answer

I have a ten gal. right now but i'm going to upgrade. I want a wide variety of color and my gourami is blue and the guppy is black, yellow, ands white.

I was actually wondering if it would be all right if i put the jewel in with my gourami cause my kenyi is picking on the jewel. Not bad but enough to make me want to pull out the kenyi and spank her little butt.

*sigh*......

the jewel is also a cichlid and they can be very aggressive. again i refer to the point ive been trying to make in your other posts, and that is that you must research your fish before buying them..

someone has to go.
you have two tanks right? im guessing the biggest one is the 10gal? if thats the case thn you cant really keep those cichlids in that size of tank they need more room really.

I actually have more tanks then that but there in use right now. And i really don't feel like i want you're advice.

thats fine ive decided im not going to waste my time trying to help you.. please go out and buy a nice tilapia buttikoferri on your next trip to the LFS and maybe you could put everything in a nice 5gal tank.. is that what you'd like to hear?

Look dude i can do without your trash talk so i'm gonna ask you nicely Please don't post anymore this is gonna be a flame war and i'm tired of them already.

didn't you post in another thread about wanting to educate people about fish?
a good teacher doesn't look at a student that has made a mistake, only to piont and laugh, that's not what teaching is about . It is teachers like that that have caused the downfall of the public education system.
she came here new to the hobby and wanting the friendly advice i told her she would find here. you do no service to this hobby whatsoever by running people off for asking for help.
as an added note the kenyii and gourami were a gift bought for her by someone else who didn't research them first, i have loaned her an extra tank to seperate them and the gourami is fine and has been for weeks, and to think you told her to euthanise it.
what friendly, educated advice that was?!?
