What should I put in and How much?

I'm getting a 300 gallon tank with 1 BIG peice of driftwood! and some tall plants. Also is ther any sand i could put in the bottom of a freshwater? How much would this cost without stand and canopy (got somebody in my familey who will make the stand.) Also what could I put in this tank I was thinking of a Gar. But what other fish could I put in the tank? Can't wait to get it

depends on where you get the tank from is it glass or acrylic? I got my 300 glass for $900 figure at least another $300 for filtration

Ok so I got the prices figured up. Now I'm doing a native tank could anybody give me some good native fish in Kentucky. They have to be able to live with a gar. I was thinking large mouth bass? just a thought
