What size are angel fishes sexuallly mature? Im thinking about buying a couple platinum 2.5-3 inch angels and i was wondering are these big enough to breed already or should i just buy the bigger ones 4-5 inches for a better chance of them breeding? And which strain usually fetches the must money? platinums? I know altums are most expensive but like the strains you would normally see in fish shops. Thanx in advance

bump come on people man this is a really lame forum compared to the pbass forum

Usually around 10 months old (could be as young as 8 months or as old as a year) the angels will start getting ready and paring off. After that they should be ready to breed given the right conditions. Some people also say they have to be 5cm/2" to breed. If your angels have been stunted in some way they may not be this big yet.

When trying to breed angels it is almost easiest to buy like a group of 6 small ones let them grow and pair off naturally

if you want higher quality angelfish(which result in more $$$ from fry), u should try ordering off aquabid

blue colored angelfish seem to be pretty popular. since you mentioned platniums, someone is selling lots of blue platnium pearlscale angels on aquabid. personally i really like blue zebra angelfish :D
high coverage koi seem to sell well too

the boys are right they are ready to breed at 8 , 9 moths or at 1 year , but i have a friend who have angels that breed at 6 months
