Topic. What size average do gachua's pair up? I see 2 of my 3" gachuas always near each other, I dont know if they're a pair or they just seek shelter with each other.
if they're laying on each other, it's a good sign of pairing up. i've seen them pair up at 3". move them to a seperate tank and watch all the fun begin. especially when the mother "spits" out feeder eggs. best thing i've seen in an aquarium. the little gachillas become a pack of piranah for the eggs!!!
They are one of the easiest snakehead species to breed my ones did it in a community tank. An average brood will have over 200 fry the parents are mouth brooders and look after the young. The fry are tiny when they first hatch and need to be raised on liquid fry for the first couple of weeks, I then used chopped bloodworm until the fry are large enough to manage whole bloodworms. The first time my ones had young they were about 4"
My four, 3" gachuas are in with a big fat 7" gachua, separated on the other side of the divider because he kept attacking the little ones. If I keep him separated will the small ones pair up and do their thing or must the bigger one be removed?
