i have a male umbee about 7 inches. he is actually one of the wimpiest fish in my tankand he is the 3rd biggest behind a female midas and male jag. is this typical of umbee as far as being docile at this size and then when they get bigger they dominate? i've always heard on these boards that are hyper aggressive, but mine is quite the opposite... maybe mine is a wimp! lol

Tank size will affect the aggression, as will the fishes individual personality rather than a specific size. Having said that, a Jag a Umbee and a Midas will struggle to live happily together in anything less than 200g imo.
They will naturaly become more agressive as they grow and mature so keep an eye out.

I think it depends on the fish. My umbees started attacking other fish during feeding time @ ~4". Now they are 12" and nothing can live with them. my umbees killed one of my armored plecos they start slowly by biting the tail till its completely off and from there they just slowly torture the fish till it dies. My umbee takes nothing from my fly river turtle and push him around like a lil girl :/

tank is a 100g growout. i move fish when i see aggression. i've shifted some around over the past 3 months. i moved a jack dempsey, red texas, lyonsi, and freddy out during that time into a 75 and a 125. i just notice my umbee is not as aggressive as i hear them to be.

My umbee is about 3.5 inches and starting to get agressive now mostly at feeding and he is in a 180 gallon.
