I'm building a 780 gallon aquarium the dimensions are 94" long by 48" wide by 40" tall. It will be a plywood tank. So only one pane of glass needed. The glass will be 90" long be 36" tall. How thick would it have to be? There will be center braces on the tank. Also there will be a giant hood system which will be a large sheet of plywood that is coated in epoxy and it will have two square holes in it that are 3' by 3' each. How thick would this glass need to be? Thanks ahead of time

they say its purely the higth that mattered. i was doing research,on a plexi/plywood tank that size and i decided on 1" plexi. but idk if itd be differnt for the glass

Minimum 19mm, however 1" would be better.

Im sick of people chirping andrew. He's young and learning. look at yourself at his age. You had questions that you didn't ask and you made the mistakes instead of asking, atleast he's asking the questions before learning the hard way. Anywhere you look, you will find people asking dumb questions, he's asking the right questions.

Depending on your tank design, 19mm plate glass should be fine. Although the overall tank dimensions are 40" high, you do not use that measurement in calculating the glass thickness required as a ply tank has added support in the frame work adding extra bracing to the design. You need to work off the dimensions from the lowest supported part of the glass panel to the water line. Mine is 40" high and 19mm is more than sufficient and achieves quite a high safety factor..

Just for the record too. I see you have received a little flack for the many questions you have asked here and there. Don't let it get you down and remember, the only stupid question is the ones not asked.;)

Cheers Brent.
