Looking for a pump to filter a 2,000g stock tank with viewing window.

I was thinking about a Reeflo, but all the recent reviews claim they will leak.
Apparently, Reeflo switched out the American-made Baldor pump, for a cheaper brand and many people claim they leak now.

ABYZZ pumps are out of my price range.

Any recommendations on a 5,000-10,000gph pump would be greatly appreciated!

I use a Jebao DCP-20000 rated for 20,000gph (Which it isn't) on my 180g. I am pretty happy with it. I really appreciate that it is a DC pump making it fairly efficient and the control box allows me to reduce the flow to variable levels all the way down to an almost trickle if/when I want to.

What will your filter configuration be? Basically a sump configuration or other? What will the head height be?

As Oughtsix asked... What size pump are you looking for? What filtration will the pump be used on? is your intention to use a single pump to power all the filtration?

Even on much smaller show tanks or display tanks, I use multiple pumps/powerheads/filters to achieve pristine filtration. I would expect ideal filtration to be very difficult with a single pump filtration.

I believe you mean 20000 lph not gph. When sizing a return pump general rule of thumb is to cut the rating in half that will tell you what the return will put out at 100% duty at zero head height.

h0ckeyfreek20 h0ckeyfreek20 Just saw you are in NJ. Where in NJ are you located? I am in North Jersey. I am glad I bought my reeflo a couple years back when it had the baldor motor. Will probably sell it but its a snapper/dart which is much smaller than what you are looking for.

YEP! You are correct! My bad!

20,000lph = 5283 GPH

I never expect the rated flow rate from any commercial aquarium pump so I really appreciate being able to purchase a higher rated pump and reduce the flow to what I need. Trying to figure out which pump will give me the exact REAL flow rate I want in my setup is a fruitless pursuit! I really appreciate these DC pumps that can be easily adjusted from the control panel.

I've used reefflo for years never had much issue. I got a hammerhead about 3years ago new had a minor drip at the intake on first set up some non hardening plumbers putty fixed the issue. That's what reefflo tech support advised. They also said they would ship me a new one if it didn't fix the issue with a return label in the box for the leaking one . They stand by their products still, always had good service from them. Really can't beat the power. I always forget those pumps are rated for head pressure. I was feeding two tanks at 15' head plus any additional from bends and fittings and still had to bleed some off back into the sump.

So yes reeflo will leak sometimes but you can very easily fix the leaky seal issue that they are aware of and will even send free silicone to you if buy from bulk reef supply. Highly recommend but you’d def need two.
