Just finishing the filtration on my 320 gallon tank, I have 2 drains 1.5" but the bulkheads are 1.25" so that does slow it down some. I am going to run 2 pondmaster 2400 gph pumps throttled back. I was going to run both returns with 3/4" pipes. I didn't realize the pump outlet was 1". Was wondering if you guys think the 3/4" will be ok or if I should return everything and go to 1". Thanks

I wouldn't throttle back with a ball valve. Put a T and a ball valve that diverts some of the water back through the bio media in your sump. A ball valve directly on top of a pump just puts unnecessary pressure on it. You're using the power, get the use out of the flow and put it back over the bio media if you need to throttle back on how much water you're overflows will handle.

so I would put the T on the pump outlet then the valve in the return line, then the other line into my first barrel, to get more filtration?

I can do that like you said might as well get something out of what your not using. Thanks for the advice, so you guys agree im good with 3/4" instead of 1"
