what size sump and pump for 175 gallon

With a tank of that size, you could use either the 55 or the 30.
You already have a large water volume with the tank, so the added amount from a sump would not help very much.
Funny thing, smaller tanks actually benefit the most from adding water volume by way of a sump, but the headache of setting one up keeps the HOB and canister makers busy.
Wet/dry or submerged media.
Filter socks or other mechanical media.
Bio media or plants, or combination.
Drilled tank or HOB overflows.
UGJ, spray bar, or jet return, or any combination of them.
Just a few considerations when planning out a sump.
Turnover rates can get really contentious.
10X or more is often mentioned as written in stone, so don`t be surprised if you hear 1750gph as a minimum.
I would be happy with a solid 6-800gph at tank height for straight filtration.
