what size sump do I need

Hey all

I got a 30 gallon tank and want to convert it to a marine tank.
I need to know if my tank will be big enough (my place is to small for a bigger tank) and what size should my sump be?

I also want to place live rock in my tank and heard allot of stuff about wet dry trickle filter not being good for live rock. Did any body experience this before and could maybe explain why.

I would shoot for as a large as a sump as you can afford/fit in your stand. This way you'll not only have more room for equipment but more water volume and more options later down the line. When I had a salt tank I heard alot of things about bioballs being nitrate factories, so I just went with live rock in the sump.
