What size sump for 240?

Just like the title, what size sump would i need for a 240gal

I agree with that and I base it off of past experience. I filtered a 300 with a 55g tank and it was more than enough.

I wasn't disagreeing, I was just trying to see if there was some formula or scale around..

There is, but it's not really accurate IMO.

Usually speaking in my opinion, the sump should at least be a 4th or 5th of the volume of the aquarium, more media space, and in case of a power outage the extra water has a place to go.

My formula is build as big of a sump as you have room for.

I agree with bud8fan.. Get the biggest sump you can fit in the space you can afford for it.

My original sump size was based on experience, and I usually try to allow 25% of the display tank for the sump.
