had a quick question for u guys, what size sump tank should i use for a 190 gallon tank?

as large as possible try to aim for atleast 15-25% tank volume is a good round figure to work from .

the biggest sump you have space for, the bigger the better

i got a 40g breeder tank sump for my 180g..work perfectly fine.

ah k, well reason i asked is i got a 55, 40 and 30 gallon tanks im not really using, wasn't really sure which way to go, but i'll go with the 55. also would it be worth using the 40 and 55 both as sumps or is one fine? because atm the new tank is going to be filtered by emperor 400, fluval 303, and a aquaclear 70.

HOB's are a waste of space an energy for a large tank except the AC 110. You'll definitely need a large w/d with any where from 5x-8x flow depending upon expected stocking levels max size...5x would be 900 gph:popcorn:

i've got a small sump in my tank too, a 12g sump for a 180g tank. i really with i could go bigger though(can't get a larger one through the doors though) and this one overflows whenever i cut power to the pump(which is fine because it's outside)
