So I'm planning my mancave and the renovation will include a large tank build.
I will cut out the exterior wall and extend it 5ft to create space for the tank and work area.

I have a sturgeon who can get 3 to 4ft long, a clown knife, and would like to add a teacup or motoro stingray.

How large will the tank need to be?

I'm thinking of a 9ft long 4ft wide and 2.5ft tall 675gallons

Will this be big enough if they reach their full growth potential?

Not for the sturgeon, but chances are it will not make it that size. But the ray and CK would be fine. You could add an aro or pbass if you wanted too.

I'm guessing you have a sterlet? I don't know how well one would do at the same temperatures required for a ray. They can take higher temps than most sturgeon, but I think they still prefer lower. I try to keep mine below 75 F

Edit:nevermind, beat me to it. Where did you get a shovelnose?! There are probably dozens on this site who would be very interested in a source for them

I got it at "Aquarium outfitters" in Wake Forest NC

The owner thought it was a white sturgeon LOL, but he had the other info right.
Its obviously not a white sturgeon.

He has kept them at 78 to 80 degrees, Mine is at 80 degrees, a few of his customers that have had them for a few years tell me they keep them at 76 to 80 as well. No problems have been experienced with them at all.

Mine is doing great, and literally eats out of my hands.

According to this, the shovelnose is the smallest species of sturgeon, smaller even than the sterlet.

Exactly! That's why so many people want them, along with their higher temperature tolerance. You're completely sure it's a shovelnose? I haven't heard of them being available at all
