whats the smallest tank size that i could have a small school of piranha like around 5 of them, and whats the smallest species that is aggressive.

Most would say that a 75g would hold 3, provided that it is at least 18" wide. Also, I'm assuming you are talking about the genus Pygocentrus, as most Serrasalmus species require individual tanks.

I prefer larger tanks, they make the p's less territorial and give greater growth potential.

I have kept 3 rbps in a 55g but as they were 9-10" at the time it was really to small. A 75g that is 18" wide is ideal for 3 and a 90g is adequete for 5. Bigger is better. With piranha overcrowding tends to solve it self, they eat each other when crowded so pretty soon they aren't so crowded any more.

all piranha are aggressive some just more then others. try wimple piranha they dont get over 6" and you could put 5 in a 75gal for life. good luck.

i kinda want to keep piranhas my self but its banned here in the philippines. i am just curious what type of food do you usually give your piranhas? :)
