What size should my silver be before I put him in with the 14" clown knife?

what does your clown knife have for tankmates currently?

I've had success putting smaller aro's with larger fish in large community tanks.

my CK grew up with his tankmates except for the largest silver which i adopted and he has never been fed live feeders and he gets along with everyone very well except when he wants in his corner and someone else is there then nhe just chases them out he never has tried to bite or attack any fish

As long as your silver is more terrictorial, 10 - 12 inches should be good.
