I have a 29 gallon and I got a 65watt light and 100% pure fluorite substrate.
I'm going to add many plants in my tank soon and Would like to add a snail.
I will "NOT" be using CO2, only Flourish Excel and maybe some other plant additives.

I want something that is not going to get larger than 2" max and help clean the glass and substrate and not create mass amounts of ****.

Any recommendations for a good snail for my aquarium?

In general large snails don't mix well with plants. There are several smaller snails that work well, but they will populate quickly.

Small one will be ok, as long as they don't eat my plants or die in my tank setup.
If I get to many snails, I can just use the potatoe on a string method for removal. :)

I know nothing about snails. Have any sudjestion for smaller snails?

How often will they have babies and how many each time?

I also read this about snails:
An aquarist should be aware that red Ramshorn snails are known to carry various parasitic Flukes that can be transmitted to other fish as well as to humans. Flukes, or Trematodes as they are sometimes called, are flatfish, primarily flounders of the genus Paralichthys. But the majority of these particular Flukes require the use of an intermediate host, so if the snails are isolated for at least a month, the disease will then be eliminated.

I was looking for something that might keep some algae under control, and figured a snail or 2 might be fun and do a ok job.

But maybe it would be a good idea "not" adding snails to my tank or would it be a good idea?

I use both ramshorns and MTS. They both are small and reproduce like no other.
me to! i also like to use olive nerites

Algae eating Olive Nerite Snail is about the best. They usually don't reproduce in fresh water and they don't eat plants. They also don't grow bigger than a marble. You can usuallly put 1 per gallon.

That sounds like just the snail I been looking for, I will call around and see if I can find some or special order them if needed, thanks for the info :)
Will they stay in the tank at all times? I looked at some googles images and I see that they have crawled out of the water on a few pictures I've seen.
What type of water would they need to breed in?

Question about the Malaysian Trumpet Snail

The pet store down the road has a planted tank with some snails, they are the same shape as the MTS. What are the chances of these snails being MTS or is there a pretty good chance that they can be something different, something that I might not want in my aquarium?

If they have the long spiral shell, they most likely are MTS. There is another species that is similar, but a little wider shell, compared to it's length.

I can't get Olive Nerites where I am, but I do have Zebra Nerites. They are quite common. I believe they might breed in brackish water; and with snails, all my tanks openings are covered. After finding an Apple on top of the hood, no one else gets a chance to escape.
