what species have you had the most losses

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dont have alot of deaths with fish. But with inverts they die pretty easy. Ive lost about 5-6 shrimp in about a month and a half.

I also lose feeder goldfish too. One night I lost like 15 of them.

anytime i get feeders like 3 dozen die in one night its so weird hahaha

Plecos can be tough. I got one from a coworker, who kept it in horrible conditions. The water was just filled with fish crap. The pleco, which was about 8 inches, was being kept in just a couple of inches of unfiltered and unheated water. When I set the fish up in a q-tank, I had to literally siphon some of the crap off of its back. He had been keeping an oscar and some sort of cichlid in the same 20 gal  When they died, he didn't care about the pleco. I think he even claimed to not feed it. I gave the pleco away after a couple of months to someone who had a bigger aquarium. If I would have kept it, I would have named it Lucky

It seems to happen to me in phases. I'll lose several of one speices. Often times finding out too late what the cause was.
When we set up the Amazon display a couple years ago. I had a terrible week of having adult green terrors drop off with no cause found. Bugged the crap out of me trying to narrow down a cause.

Not one particular species but I have had all my losses for the most part be ancient fish. 1 gar 1 CK and 1 aro. two jumpers and one didn't make the tank transition very well.

I've had terrible luck this past year with D. compessiceps. I've always wanted one for my 125 community, but on each occasion they end up dead, although always frustrating because other additions, including more "peaceful" species survive, but they didn't

i cant seem to keep pleco's alive......and ive tried several species-common, royal, gold nugget, chocolate and bristlenose.

ive used different typed of sinking wafers both veggie and carnivore, kept real driftwood, clean water.....yet they wont stay for more than a year i had a common in a goldie tank :(
