Someone gave me this cichlid and was wondering if anyone knew what species he was. I was told he is very aggresive..

Parachromis are about the most aggressive cichlids and that type (Red Tiger MOTA or RTM) are hit or miss. SOme are highly aggressive, some arent. I had a spawning pair in a tank with other fish and never had aggression issues. If someone told you it was and gave it to you, it might be.

Here was my pair, female on the left, male on the right...and yours might be gold now that I see how red mine was at around that size.

If you have other pics, we might be able to tell you more precisely what it is.

That is a female RTM, or Red Tiger Motaguense. I have two females in my 150 and they have teamed up the last two months and killed a larger Ven. Pike, in my avatar and a 6" male red terror. Mine are very aggressive.
