Was looking at buying these online, they are labeled as Palmas Buettikoferi but I've never seen them with the golden belly before. Are they regular Palmas or maybe a Polli? If they are buettikoferi does the gold colouration fade with size because I've seen larger specimens but never that gold. Any info is helpful, Thanks.

Headshape, markings, and pec fins do not look polli to me. Pollis have a wider head, polka dots, and large round pec fins. Palmas typically have diagonal markings (dorso-lateral bars) and more finlets. As far as discerning between a true palmas and a buettikoferi( a variation of the palmas species) or retro for that matter, perhaps others can chime in as I am not the best at it. I am interested to learn about the gold coloration and if it changes with aging, as well.

After reading that article I agree it looks like a buettikoferi. Maybe an "extra gold" colour variation if possible. I guess the only way to find out if it will keep the gold as it grows is to get one!
