Can be taken to eliminate ammonia? I am using amo chips and amo lock ...after the fish eat I remove excess food.....one of my three leichartis has ammonia burn in one of his eyes.....im kind of in a deadlock here. I also took the liberty of rdering a new filter.

Anymore suggestions? they are on sand bed and have an undergravel filter along with the hangon.

thanks

the undergravel probably isnt doing much with sand. How often and how much do you change water?

feed less and change water more often

what fish do you have? you might be overstocked? waterchange!

Do not just git rid of the ammonia removing resin, you must ween you tank off of it. Your undergravel is just about usless with sand. Start adding bacteria which can be bought from any reputable dealer. I've used Cycle but someone can recommend a better one. Do lots of water changes, three per week of at least 40%. This will eventually cycle your tank. It will take a long time, but it will work.

the tank was established for 4 months ...............thats the weird part I use it as a grow out tank I had a 6 inch black aro and some pikes in there for a few months till they grew a bit ....now im trying to grow these little guys. I just changed the substrate after the arow and pikes exited but i still waited 2 weeks after that to put the leicharti in there.

thanks alex
