In search of Leiarius
I would like to make the inlet on my filter water tight.

the filter is diy, the filtration chamber is acrylic with a 2 inche diameter hole drilled for the inlet pipe connected to the outlet of a pump. what would make the seal between the acrylic and pvc water tight.

In my test silicone not only doesn't stick to acrylic it also won't stick to pvc.:screwy:

what i need also needs to be fish and bacteria safe.

Any ideas.

so far all ive got is using pvc that is half threaded and half slip on and have the slip on half slip on to the pipe, the two threaded ends twist onto each other with the piece of acrylic in between them and a waser to insure the tight fit is also a water tight fit.

Just to add my $0.02.
I have used PVC electrical conduit fittings for bulkead fittings with great sucess.
Straight thread, not tapered, design, local availability and price got me started.
No leakage keeps me using them.

Try asking for a TANK outlet instead of a bulkhead or bring along a photo.
You can also use neoprene to make up your own washer. Outer doesnt need to be circular to work and neoprene has more bulk than rubber. Alternatively, let your silicone glue dry with the join loosely done. Once the silicon has dried, it will become a gasket which you can tighten up onto.
