I wanna do a coral reef tank. my aquarium is 120g.
I was wondering what is a good stock list for me

I wanna put clown fish
yellow tang blue hippo tang
Mandarin goby
???????
Not sure what else will go good in there. Suggestions needed

THANKS DAN

Just do some sand, a shrimp and about 4 or 5 mollies.

mandarins are beautiful, but are hard to feed and a lot die because of it. i heard that you cant really keep more than one because there wont be enough food for them both.

The fish you list wil be okay in a 120g. I would leave off the Manderian, your tank needs to be well established and capable of repoducing pods for them to eat. A sump with a refuge growing Cuplear ect will help support their growth. They also come in on liverock, but often dont last but a couple months, so you will have to introduce them and have the refuge for them to breed in.

Also make sure your water params are 100% before intruducing tangs, they dont fair well in improper water quality

Scuba Oz You give some damn sound advice! And mollies CAN live in salt water, but why would you add them to a reef tank???? Makes no sense, they're way too boring for the amount of money you'd spend on a reef tank. IMO. Mandarins and psych's and scooters do much better with "established" tanks. Anything that's that big, wait a few months before adding any of those fish. Give the tank time to establish a breeding population of cop's then you'll be good with those guys.

If you are setting up a reef tank you will need about 200 lbs. Of live rock (half of that could be base rock)--plenty of circulation. I chose not go with a live sand both for maintenance but primarily cost I basically have a bare bottom strewn with chunks of discarded live rock and some crushed coral. I would hold of on any expensive or sensitive fish until your tank has cycled and stabilized. I would recommend that you get a few Chalk Bass from sealifeflorida/com they sell for 9.95 per but he might give a discount on larger orders (as he is diver that collects them) Check it out--I am really pleased with mine they are hardy, beautiful, passive a hardy little fish., and don’t forget to save your cash for those reef lights.
