Get a couple pictus catfish! Except i.suggest growing the hrp a bit first.

Sent from my cave

I put the hrp with the female jd lastnight cause the male jd killed the female hrp. So now the male jd is alone.

Your male jd more happy by himself, so maybe keep just himself in own tank. If add other big fish, he not happy. He not fish with good manners!

If only him in tank too much boring to you, can keep other animal with him only if you not worry he will fight other animal now or next time, eg, maybe you not worry if he eat one or two shrimp each day or one or two neon tetra each day if you have many, many shrimp and many, many neon tetra all over tank with him.

If only wanting keep big fish, can try bigger tank so everyone more room and happier. But, no guarantee even in bigger tank fish will not fight tankmates! Have hiding places if one fish thinks, "OK, I lose, enough fight, want rest now."

I think hes depressed being alone hes been sitting in the corner of his cave and hasnt really moved not even to eat. I think it was more of the mating he is ready and she isnt. Thats why im looking into dithers or catfish. He did good with the pictis that I had with him before I moved it to my sons 29. My 55 has alot of hiding places and I also have a 125 and 210 that are empty. The 125 is for the pair of jds once they growout more. If they dont want to be a couple anymore cause of the separation then they will stay in their own 55s and I will set up the other tanks for some other fish maybe some festaes.

Poor fish! I feel so sorry for him now! But I think only 3 inches not big enough to breed yet. What temperature is tank? If on high side, maybe can try lower temperature slight bit?

i feel bad for him too! their both breeding size but most people dont pair em right so they dont breed as young. the temp was at 83* yesterday but last night i unplugged my heater to let the temp drop to 77* witch its at now.
