What subtrate should I use for stingrays I've tried torpedo beach and have no luck with my ray would develop red dots on its belly within a few days after I take the sand out the red spots go away after a few days

Waste of money to buy pet store sand. Go to your local home improvement store and buy pool filter sand, or if they don't have it buy play sand.

You'll need to rinse them and your tank will likely be cloudy for a few days, but once it settles it's cheap easy, and effective.

Plenty of people on here using torpedo beach sand with their rays. Most don't seem to think it is a waste of money. Give your ray chance to adjust to it. Don't just take it out after a couple of days because it's belly became red. Leave some open areas for the ray with no sand and give it time.

I use pfs and its great
The canisters never suck it up and my rays have never had irritated disks in tanks with pfs

Torpedo beach is the best stuff, just leave it in and let it be.
