What sunfish?

Caught these 2 today, here every panfish we catch is a "bluegill" just looking for the correct term... Thanks!

Looks like redear sunfish to me but you are right, its crappy pictures.

Don't looks like pumpkinseed to me. They are too dull and dark to be pumpkinseeds. But the top one looks like a male redear in breeding colors so I'm guessing that the last one is a female redear.

The one I think is make has a flatter forehead while the other has a sloping face to a point, they both have orange speckles on their chest like a pumpkinseed. I was thinking maybe redear x pumpkin hybrid. But I'd have to get better pics up

I think the first is the female and the second a male. They are the only 2 fish in the aquarium and never leave each other

It's pure redear, not redear x pumpkinseed. By the way, redear sunfish are more closely related to pumpkinseeds than other sunfish species.

Ok cool thanks! Each is about 7" I'll put up some better pics once the tank is pristine, I've also got a green sunfish going in there.
