As i'm looking into my next tank setup, i was wondering what kind of setup do you guys have for a SINGLE flowerhorn. (tank size and filter)

I ask this b/c i had my fh in a 75g w/ built in filter and now he's temporarily in a 40g w/ an ac110 and looks to better.

Currently I have my guy in a 150g with a large sump filter. I personally feel as if this is a lot of wasted space so i am moving him soon.

I just purchased two 75g tanks and I think this is where I will set him up. I have heard and read that FHs do better in smaller enclosures for some reason... I have never found a valid point as to why? Anyone?

When I get a stand so I can set this tank up I will have two HOBFs. He will be alone in the tank so filtration will be fine. Plus I do water changes every week.

In the 150 will go all of the others I currently have! Can't wait!!!:nilly:

Dam, that is alot of space for one guy! i bet he does back flips all day long in there :D

i was thinking of a 36x18 setup, so either a 50G or 65G w/ just an ac110 and weekly water changes.

has anyone ever kept an adult FH successfully in this type of setup?

LOL Yeah he swims his butt off all day! I feel bad thinking of pulling him but all of my other guys are starting to get big and run out of space so i have to do something.

Go with a 65 at least. That way he has some decent room to move, plus the Ammonia won't build up as fast as in a 50g. Just a better over all condition for him. Also try to get any other type of a HOB for it. It will make a nice difference.

Keep us posted!
