I found a perfect place to put a tank, up to 6' wide, which is what, 125 gal?

125 gallons of water, according to some quick math weigh about half a ton, or around 1000 lb; so, it's like putting six 170lb people shoulder to shoulder.

I am assuming this will not present any problems but I am just double checking here. Will I be okay?

I currently reside in a rental property (poorly built) and I placed a 110 over 3 joists and it hasnt sagged at all...

Also it depend where you plan to put it. If you put it on an outside wall then you should be allset because the load bears on those load bearing walls in the basement. If you put it in the middle of a room the walla may not be loadbearing. If they are load bearing you will have a column below them.

i think your 125 will be a little heavier than 1000 lbs?

figure 8lbs a gallon 1000 lbs
I have 150lbs of gravel in mine 150lbs
Maybe 25 misc 25
1175 lbs

not too far off from 1000

Has anyone ever gone through this much thought of wether or not to put a baby upright grand piano on a floor? My parents have one and its got to be a half ton with no issues.

Agreed, the tank alone will weigh around 200lbs and the stand will add weight. A good estimate for complete set ups is 10 lbs per gallon of tank so likely around 1250 lbs.

have you picked it up? then how do you know how much it weighs? maybe they make houses more sturdy in Canadia. yar ehhhhhhh
