sry but i need help. my tank has like an oil substance on the surface. i had it once in one of my tanks but it wasnt as bad. this S** looks horrible.... and thick the water looks milky almost and idk it happend while i was at wrk becasue it was clear b4 and i did a water change a couple days ago and it wsnt like this.....??????

i guess it is your filter !

I mean the filter is ever to small for the tank and not filtering the whole tank fast/ good enough with what fish you have in there .

Or you dont have enough surface movement in the tank .

What is the fish stock, size of the tank, and filtration setup? Possibly underfiltered and/or overstocked.

Did you clean your filters the last water change? That could induce the cycle.

The oil slick on top is a bacterial colony usually comes from a combo of not enough surface agitation and to many nutrients in the water (overfeeding?). The milky water is most likely your tank going through a mini-cycle again since the water change.

Even without further info your best bet is to continue doing 25-50% water changes daily. This would be ideal and give the fish the best chance to survive the cycle.

If you have some seachem prime you can double the dose or go even higher (exact dose on the bottle) to help with the chemicals present from cycling.

its a 55g with a 1000gph pump hooked up to an overflow to my 30g sump.. i think it is WAYY MORE THEN ENOUPH lmao...but yeah its all good i realized i spray'd glade cented spray in the room after smokin some green tobacco.. and like it settled on the surface so i did a water change and it is fine....

You got stoned and sprayed glade airfreshener all over the room to cover the sweet smell! You didn't know why your tank had an oil slick on the surface, until you came back to reality lol Anyway glad its all sorted!
