WHAT THE HECK IS THIS THING??????!!!!!!!

I recently spent a week working at the fort worth zoo as a volunteer, these fish were in almost every tank, but didn't have a label like their various exotic tank mates,what is this?!

They need clean, cool, very well oxygenated water.

Cold water with some current. peaceful fish. they sell them everywhere here. but very delicate to water quality.

they're actually pretty rare where i am, i've only seen the LFS with them 2 or 3 times in 4-5 years. The temp and current aren't a problem for me but my cave tetras just shredded 6 larger danios so i'm not taking chances with them until i get a seperate tank. Never thought cave tetras rivaled cichlids and pirahnas for aggression.

Never seen any hillstream loach's in real....pretty cool though

Yeah u dont want these fish with nippers. they get picked on alot and unlike plecos they dont have armour to protect them. behavior similar to flounders without the burrying in the sand.
