I've never a mouth structure like this. Do you have pics of the whole body? There are instances such as wild-caught loaches having mouths that made them look like beluga whales.

Sorry no full body shots, it is the most odd fish i have ever seen. I am tempted to go back tomarrow and pick it up if i can find out what it is.... i would just go take more pics of it but the LFS is 2 hours away!

it was about 5 inches long kind of carp-barb looking would be my guess.

Looks like a spanner barb aka T-Barb aka Puntius lateristriga.
