I found this guy in my filter. I have no idea what it is, but the tank is doing fine so I just tossed him back in.

I'm wondering how it got in there....very strange. Off subject, but do you keep trout? I'm looking at your' avatar, and hoping you do.
yes its dragon fly nymph there are quite predatory so be careful with your smaller fish, i imagine it was drawn into the filter as a egg, or even managed to force its way in when it was smaller.
Damn, so I should have killed it then. I have fry in that tank. Nothing from the tank has ever been outside, I wonder how it got in.
No I don't keep trout I just fish for them. But I know they eat dragonfly nymphs.
I want to keep trout someday...beautiful fish. I have the next best thing. Celestial Pearl Danios look like a cutthroat, brooke, and rainbow all rolled into one. That's the tank where this larva came from.
Oh I do know what kind of water they prefer. Trout like well oxygenated water and cool water. Their pH range is slightly acidic to slightly alkaline. They prefer medium to hard water.
