I keep noticing this weird almost like skin randomly appearing in my tank an it makes an absolute mess, now I’m unsure but I think it may be coming off my “bullrout” an Australian freshwater stone fish, I read that some fish shed their slime coat as a way getting rid of parasites or Alge that builds up an I thought well it’s a stonefish so the Alge thing could be a reason it almost never moves, more curious then anything it looks ugly makes the water bad which is lame if I have just done a water change an just looks like floating semen haha, I have no idea what it is

......not sure what that stuff is but I'd like some more info and possibly a photo of your bullrout,if you please?

I think they come from Australia and might or might not be brackish.I have tried keeping them at different times over the years with very little success...for one thing, they usually come in very small when the shops bring them in and they seem to be very finicky eaters. Thanks for posting the photos and good luck with yours.

Cheers yeah I’m pretty sure their native to Australia, it’s where I’m located I’ve caught a couple fishing an they are semi brackish from what I understand they tolerate freshwater but do prefer salt i kind met it half way atm cause it’s stocked with American chichlids but I’m soon to set up a 125g that will be Australian natives, as for eating yeah I’ve had mine a month an I’ve seen it eat one pellet in the whole month I’ve had it I have some feeders in their apprently they go ages with ou food an eventually it will eat something in the tank either my feeders or it’s tankMates so that’s so thing to keep in mind as well, his about 11-12cm an god forbid it stings me apprently the guy at the fish store has one an got done by it an the pain was crazy bad

Wow,caught a few them fishing, they must have been some nice sizes.Per the limited information I have been able to find on them they can reach about a foot in length but I would love to see one that big.Yours is about the biggest that I can recall seeing.
