its most likely an Aiptasia. Aiptasia are common pest anemones, so you may want to get rid of it if you plan to keep coral. The anemones can sting the corals.

i decied to go ahead and move it to th rock. i also picked up some kent marine micro-vert food for my little ananmone. its a coldwater tank so i dont really intend on keeping any corals (mabe a sponge or 2) but will it hurt a sponge or any mussles i put in?

Yep, it is a pest anemone sp. aiptasia. They can and will kill corals, fish, mussels, sponges. you start with one, and they reproduce fairly rapidly. Best get rid of it.

ahhhhhhhh

those arent aiptasia

these dudes are harmless, ive touched them before and they dont sting,, we kept a colony of them on a rock in a display tank, no harm was ever done to the invertabrates, fish, etc, we feed these guys enriched baby brine shrimp.

oh and you wont find corals around socal water.

and aiptasia are tropical

They didn't sting you because our skin is too thick to be effected by most of them. And if it's not an Aptasia then what are these "Dudes" Mike? LOL

IMO it is an Aptasia - what you decide to do with it is up to you, but they will reproduce quite rapidly and if you later on decide you no longer care for them.... have fun trying to evict them. They are popular hitchhikers of LR, and years ago I thought they were cool too - - LOL yeah, lets just say I learned the hard way how damn rediculous they can become.
