I think my three 2" Pictus Cats, aka "the goon squad", took down 2 of my big (4 inch) Opaline Gouramis!! I saw them messing with the first one a month ago, but didnt think anything of it. Then the next day, he was dead when I got home & they were munching on him. I couldnt prove it was them, but it sure smelled fishy!:WHOA: Anyhow, last night they were taking turns ramming another one of my Opies! They would swarm around him in this silver ball of whiskers until somebody would bounce out and rush back in to ram him in the side. They all took turns! I got the net & put all three pictus into a bucket. When I woke up this morning, the Opie had died & had bruising all over his sides. What gives? They have always been peaceful to the other fish. Why would they just snap like that & team up to take down a much larger tankmate? Especially a top-water Opie. He never hung out on the bottom or anything...:screwy:

They tend to get more aggressive as they age...at least in my experience. I've had them live in a school as juvies then turn on eachother as adults.

They do a lot of in-fighting, but I never expected an all-out battle. They were already gonna be moved to my office tank next week, but it looks like they will get pushed to the front of the line. I dont want them killing my last Opie or my Fiance's Pink Kissing Gouramis.

No comments? I've never heard of pictus doing this... Is it normal & I just dont know?

it sometimes takes more than an hour for someone with something to say to read a thread.... give it time...

but yeah... "they do that sometimes"
