So this morning when I went to feed my fish I noticed a body in the tank. I looked closely and it was my smaller dragon goby. He was doing well the night before and by the time I got up he looked like he'd been in the tank dead for a month.

I have a feeling that one or more of my fish decided to make a snack on poor gobus minimus. He was about 6-7 inches when he was eaten. My larger dragon goby is a little over 8", my purple spotted goby is maybe 4" and my moray eel is about a foot. The moray eel is a G. Tile so he is really thin.

My larger dragon goby was solitary for a while and when I added new dragon gobys he was territorial towards them. He calmed down though.

My PSG is a pig and will eat anything that moves slightly. I never seen him go for something too big though.

My Moray Eel is spotfed rosy reds. He gets from 1-3 a day. He never seems to be full. When he sees the spot feeders (or me) he knows it is feeding time and comes out. I have only seen him strike at my larger dragon goby once.

I am also in the middle of a nitrite problem. Today when I checked the water my ammonia was pretty high too.

I want to know what the chances are of my goby getting killed by one of my other fish. I am also curious as to what ate him. I don't think PSGs have teeth, and my moray isn't trained to eat non-live foods yet. Also, I would never imagine a dragon goby to be taking bites out of another dead fish.

My tank has been setup for over a month, but I thought that transferring water would instant cycle. I was wrong about that.

It is still cycling and I am sure the ammonia spike is from the DG dying.

It went through an ammonia spike 2-3 weeks ago and then it went through a nitrite spike which I have almost eliminated, but yesterday it spiked again.

I just did a 50% water change today adding in prime and ammonia stuff to quickly lower the levels. The moray eel is still acting normal and the other DG and PSG are acting a bit slower than usual.

I have two 40g sponge filters and a 60g pump because everything else stirs up the sand. When my tank was getting closer to being cycled both of my filters failed from sand being sucked up.

I believe that the spikes could have killed the DG, but I am wondering if any of these fish would start eating a dead DG.
