I have a 150G long, 72x18x26. I wanted to get a breeding pair of something in the SA/CA family. I was thinking about some salvinis or freddies. I can't decide. Herichthys are nice also... I'd like something that doesn't really get too big actually so that I could keep some other smaller cichlids in the tank possibly....

dogs?

carpintis or escondidos are like regular texas but youll actually be able to get rid of the fry when you get them. or something along the lines of a red tiger motaguense. gold saums, flowerhorn, geophagus(you'd need a group though), midas, barred midas, synspilums. so many others.

You could probably get away with dividing the tank and housing two pairs of JD's.. as long as A) you have plenty of hiding spots and and maybe an extra tank in case one of the females gets bullied too bad.. B) some extra filtration when they start getting big.. and I'd assume the divider should make it so the pairs can't see each other.

From what I've read, most CA/SA breeding pairs won't do all too well with other fish in their general area. Then again, JD's are all I've owned (and not for too long either, I'm speaking from research more so than from experience :D)

Breed fish that you like a lot and can sell the offspring of...

Since I don't know what you like nor what your local market will move... I don't know...
