What to buy for new fluval 405

I just ordered a new fluval 405 which should be here in a couple days. I was wondering what everyone else uses in their trays besides what comes with it. I have read the carbon is kinda useless unless you want to take medication out of the water and is more beneficial to use something else in place of it.

I have 3 loads of bio balls to hold as much bacteria possible...and one load of seachem purigen for the extra support.

Mine is packed full of ceramic rings and pot scrubbies

I think I'm gonna go with the ceramic rings and pot scrubbies. I've heard of other people using those too.

In a customers of mine I have he standard sponges in the side compartments and 4 of the 6 trays filled with ceramic. I clean it every other month. This is 2 filters on 2 55 gallon tanks. Cichlads in one a tiger shovel nose in the other(not my choice of stock)
