im a bit confused on what to do. my 3" mono/occell is in a tank with a bunch of tank mates including his brother from another mother a 2" pbass who is eating almost everything. issue is, i just battled some disease in this tank, all fish are healthy now, i really dont want to throw feeders in fear to reintroduce disease again. Ive tried everything with this guy, he takes to nothing. hes already been starving for about a week , he sees the competiton still doesnt strike, he sees me as the food source still wont strike, i tried dieselmacks technique, nothing. Short of removing him from that tank, what else can i try? he has such potential in color i really dont wanna lose him.:nilly:

I would actually try to move it to another tank or even re-home it, it isn'y worth introducing any diseases to the tank with store bought guppies at this point. Just my $0.02

you were asking opinions  so technically you did ask him

check my post in your other thread.

he could have said his opinion at home, its like if you go to another doctor for a second opinion and your original doctor pops in the office and gives his opinion again.:nilly:

i'm guessing you guys live together, or close to each other... lol:ROFL:

have you tried bloodworms? One of my 4 orino's is this way....the other 3 eat pellets and he'd rather starve:( so ive been thawing out bloodworms and crushing pellets in w/ them. He'll eventually eat pellets...one of these days.

So i'd say try frzn bldworms or maybe silversides.

Personally, this sounds like pretty good advice. You could also quarantine the feeders for a couple of weeks. I don't like to put feeders in with fish that are already off live though, don't want them to regress back to their old ways.

my husband;)

and yes ive tried silver sides, nothing. Still havent tried balckworms as iv been looking to see where to order them.

as for qt feeders, no extra tank, its funny cause its much easier for us to set up a larger tnak in this house than a smaller one. and about rehoming him, it WILL pretty much be my other option, i dont want to give up on him cause anyways if i plan to have more cichla (which i do) im going to have to go through this again anyways so i might as well learn how to take cichla of live now. im going to try the worms.

its best to feed them feeders til a bigger size,of course many might not agree here.
why not just get a small air pump and a small bucket or storage container and quarantine guppies in there?
ive quarantined goldfish for up to two weeks in a small plastic food container.

keep trying the dieselmack method.
starve him maybe another week.
