NEW YORK
I recently had a big accident where my 75 broke so im starting over. I have the options of a 50 gallon 36 7/8x19x19 5/8 or a 55 gallon. These tanks will either be tanks for life or a growout tank until i buy a 75 or maybe a 90 gallon dont know which yet. I have 2 bichirs and a gold severum that survived the accident so they will go in the tank. I wanted to add the following fish option with them.

option1- 1-2 GT'S
0ption2- GT AND JD
option3- JD
option4- Jag
option5- needlenose gar and GT
option6- 2 parrot fish
option7- any other ideas or combos

Id take the 50 gallon, based on the larger footprint. I dont know how big your bichirs or severum are, but if they are 6-8 inches, Id be happy with that and wouldnt add a thing.

All the fish you have listed get 10+ inches and Im no expert on Gar, but uh...Ive seen them 4+ ft. With a 50 or 55, youre maxed with what you have IMO. If they are only 3 inches, you could add any combo of the others, but even when you move to a 75, youre already going to be close to maxed...unless you are like one of those that has posted recently with 7-1 ft long fish, 5-5 inch fish and more in a 125, thinking overcrowded is ok. Im not one of those that think it is, so disregard my reply if thats what youre going for.

Good Luck either way.

well the severum is very small so he wont be added for some time and the bichirs are only about 4-5 inches. from what ive read they will max at about 9-12 inches so they will cover the bottom of the tank im loking for something for the middle to top. i dont have to do a combo of the above fish but i was really thinking about doing just one of the above fish i listed

maybe one green terror or one jack but i don't really see any of your other options working. as it is even if all you add is one of these two fish you could have some aggression issues, not to mention bio load when they all get full size

Why don't you just set-up the tank for the bichirs and slowly restock it after some thought and decisions. You just lost a lot of fish and seem to be rushing to restock it with all your threads.

well as many ppl know this fish thing is very addicting and i feel kinda lost without a tank. It will be about a 2-3 more weeks till i get to set a tank back up im just trying to figure things out right now. Im not just throwing another tank up as i have no where to put it yet. Just looking for some ideas on what i can do and maybe get away with

I would scratch the jag unless you plan on putting him in a 75 or larger by itself. It will surely make light work out of a severum and bichir.

so are your bichirs senegals? and why dont you just get a mate for your sev, a pair with the bichirs would do ok in that size tank, only other fish i could see working from the ones you listed would be a jd with the sev
