Just got back electricity,
power went out for more than 24 hours due to strong typhoon,
luckily, i woke up early yesterday and saw my fish gasping in the surface of the water.
my tank is quite overloaded.
oits 300 gals, with 2 10 inch asian arowana, 11 pcs 3 inch silver dollar, 1 3 inch flagtail, 1 8 inch flahgtail. 4 pcs severums.

what should be done when brownout occurs?

luckily i had 3 battery powered airpumps. but they were not really stong, what else coulkd be done?

power hasd been restored, and luckily, my fish are ok.

men! that happend to me as well! lost 1 dat and 2 monos. my aro was also at the surface gaspin for air. well some 1 told me at the petshop to take at least half of the water from the tank, so that the fishes will get more air. i just dont know if it really helps.

may i ask where did u buy u'r battery packd pumps, how much and how strong it is?
thanks!

Battery operated air pumps are your savior.

yup luckily i had some battery operated pumps at home,
when i tried to buy more during the brown out, all the battery pumps were already sold out :( also can't find batteries since all the store had sold out.

@industrialsquad,
i bought mine from different lfs.
mostly from sams's lagoon.

fire up my generator baby!!!

thou its fre@king loud so i cant run it late at night!!! the neighbors complain

Regular hydrogen peroxide is h202 when you add it to water you get more water and air. It's important NOT to overdose. The rate is 1t (teaspoon) per 10 gallons. 3t = 1T (tablespoon) 3ts= 1 ounce. So... 55 gallons just under 2Ts or 5 1/2 t. Depending on the biomass this could last a couple of hours. When the fish go back to the top, dose again. WARNING- IF YOU OVERDOSE IT DOESN'T BREAKDOWN AND GOES INTO THE TANK AS AN ACID- DO NOT OVERDOSE !!!

You're only dosing the water in the tank NOT the capacity. If you've got a 100 gallon tank with lots of rocks and other decorations, don't treat for 100 gallons, use alot less.

Another solution would be to agitate the surface of the water.

you could buy a generator, well worth the price to keep ur fish alive.

Yep.

That is what I did

what i did b4, is i get water inside the tank from time to time and pour it back again in the tank. anyway im @ Canada and blackout here doesnt happen too much. like 1 time in 10 yrs. and that wud just last 15 minutes, 30 minutes tops.
