We just picked up a 120g tank with the catch that we took the fish that were in it. The tetras, rainbow fish and pleco were easily accomodated in our tanks. However, we do not ever plan a tank or pond that the 2 ID sharks could live out their lives. We are hesitant to take them to an LFS as there are no "good" shops around here and they will end up right back where they started, dying in an inadequate sized tank. None of the shops here even have large display tanks they could go in and we have few fish clubs active to help find them a home locally.

They are currently ~4" and ~5". They seem to be in decent shape (color, body condition, no evidence of nose trauma, etc.), but we can't be sure of their history.

I didn't want to try to sell them, because we are not sure of their history and couldn't make any guarantees about their health. Also, we do not have any experience shipping or selling fish. We are open to tips on that front. I am hoping that someone that regularly reads this section will know of a good home for them or have an idea where they could go. We just want them to go somewhere they will have a good life and be appreciated for the beautiful monsters they will become.

Any ideas are appreciated, thanks!

It is good to see someone trying to deal with the situation responsibly. Good luck!

post them up in the buy and sell on this site u might find someone

Some times a zoo or an aquarium will take them. Not sure if you have any in your area but places like that are a good place to check as well.

ya it might take some time to find a good home but it worth it but i wouldnt give it to a lfs unless they had the right set up for it and u know how they operate

We do have some time to find a place, they are fine hanging out with the "baby" oscar for now. Unfortunately, we do not have public aquaria here and our zoo is fairly small and pathetic, they don't even have a tank/pond big enough for them. The LFSs here are how they got sold for a 120g in the first place, so I will do anything to avoid going that route.

The only "rush" would be that I have a feeling they will begin to grow more quickly in our care. They were being fed one type of tropical flake on a regular basis. We feed a wide variety of dry, frozen and live foods, especially to the growing oscar. I want to get some leads in case they begin to outgrow our tanks faster than we can handle.

I've seen this question a lot over the years. Bottom line, most will die. I know in my area aquariums won't even touch them because people are always trying to get rid of monster fish. It's very unfortunate.

Good luck finding them a home!

Put it in the Buy and Sell forum. Maybe someone close ot you can come for a pick up.
