Hey everyone. I have an 18" royal clown knifefish im not sure what to do with. Hes currently in a 120gal and is running out of room. Its still probably going to be about 3 months before I can afford to upgrade to a new tank (200gal+). So Iv been debating on selling him to someone with a larger tank then mine. I would rather sell him to someone who knows what they are doing vs taking him to the lfs for credit. I have some other fish in smaller tanks that will take is place if he goes. (hence not enough space for all of them in the 120)

If I do find someone to buy him, what do you think is a reasonable price to ask? Hes healthy, eating shrimp, talapia, and pellets. I bought him at about 7" 2 years ago for $40 i think. Heres a pic of the big guy.

Try giving/selling it to someone with a larger tank and know how then buy/ask for it back!

This crossed my mind before. If i sold him to someone with the understanding or agreement that I would buy him back in a few months time. But im not sure on a selling price. This is the only rck iv ever seen in person. Almost every lfs around here sells clown knifes, but not the royals.

Still debating on what to do with this guy. Wont be able to afford a new tank upgrade till probably september. Hes starting to look crowded and I feel bad for him.

Don't get rid of him, he's a keeper. September is only a few months away and it probably wouldn't harm him or stunt his growth if he stays in that tank a litle bit longer.

He will be fine in that tank till you upgrade I had to hold my 16.5 inch royal clown knife in a 75 when my big tank started leaking and I had to get a new setup.. he was in the 75 for about 5 months till I could afford another setup and he did fine till I got him back in a big tank you'll be fine he's very nice don't sell him he's to nice and you would run the risk of not getting him back and I've tried what you want to do and out of probably 12 times of telling the person if you are going to sell the fish I want it back I've only got 1 call back or response so just hold on to him till the new setup comes around he'll be okay and you'll be glad you kept him in the long run instead of running the risk of losing such a nice fish :) GL with him
