What to do with runners?

1. My Val's came with runners when I got them, I was wondering if they need to be buried like the main plant is or can the root system stay on top
on the substrate?

2. Does the main vine attaching the runner to the main plant need to be buried or can it stay above the surface?

3. Is there a certain amount of time I should wait before separating the runners from the main plant?

Once the new daughter plants develop roots of their own, the runner vein can be cut and removed.
