i am new to the whole fish keeping thing. I have purchased some cichlids and someone gave me a tiger shovelnose catfish and i don't know what to do exactly with them. What and how should I feed them? The cichlids are fairly small right now but the catfish is huge. No I have not put them in the same tank. But he kinda scares me with how big they said he would get. They say I could get some money for him cause he is gorgeous. But how do I take care of him so he gets bigger?

the catfish needs a huge tank to get bigger. he won't sell for very much money at all, in fact its possible they may not even take him for free in your area; these things are pretty common. how big is he right now?
cichlid/carnivorous pellets would be fine for the cichlids, for the shovelnose market shrimp or store-bought fish fillets would be good. Don't feed him goldfish.

thanks so much for the info. the catfish is about 10 to 12 inches long maybe a little longer. I don't have the cichlid in the same tank as too my problem . Cause i wanted to sell him so i could get smaller fish. But i got some of those pellets for the cichlids but haven't seen the huge guy eat any since getting them earlier. Don't really like the flakes that I bought either. Thanks .
