I got 2 new bluegill 2 days ago and they havent eaten any flake food (no suprise), so what should i feed them? i have smaller guppies in there and small snails that they could eat. but what else should i feed them. and how to get them eating flake and pellet food? Im going to walmart to pick up some trout worms, and to petsmart to pick up small waxworms and crickets. anything else i should pickup?

Give them time. They will eat.

wax worms-wats that?

do earth worms but they might just need some time

blood worms maybe

wax worms....Meal worms.

thanks for the help. There getting skinny and im worrying but there hardy natives so they can go a while before eating, and if they really had to they have small minnows and snails to snack on. heres what im planning on feeding so far and correct me if i should revise something:
small crickets, 1 time per 1-4weeks
trout worms around 1", once every 1-2 weeks ish
waxworms- rotate with trout worms
snails- in the tank, whenever
minnows- in the tank, whenever
and ill try and get some craws when there larger, maybe like 8" ish??
and once there nice and fat i'll slowly start the frozen/flake foods
the bluegill are 2" and 4" so i think thats fine right?

Sounds fine. I usually stay away from live fish and snails due to possible parasite transmission. Little crayfish can work, don't try the big ones; they can take your fish down. Feeder shrimp are probably a better option.

I've yet to find a sunfish who won't eat frozen bloodworms. Krill or shrimp pellets (such as Tetracichlid) are good too; crumble them if they're too big for the fish to swallow.

i was able to train mine to eat pellets

mix that with feeders and worms and u should be fine

the live fish and snails have been in the tank for around 1yr so they shouldnt be any parasites? i will consider the glass shrimp over craws b/c i love my fish dearly and wouldnt want to find a tragety. So what kind of frozen and pellet foods should i aim for? I was thinking brine shrimp, and daphania if thats how u spell it.
