Okay, here is the deal. I have an eclipse III 37gallon tall aquarium. I've bred jewel cichlids in it and have kept Convicts in it. I've owned the tank for nearly 10years but haven't done much with it for almost 5 now. Currently I have a Synodontis spp. in there who is an unidentified species I've had for 11 years that is only 5" long. It was labeled as a featherfin cat, but guess not. Anyhow, I'm looking to get back into cichlids and have been thinking about going back into convicts but I was wondering what other cichlids I could do in this tank with that cat as a breeding pair. I'd like to stick with cichlids obviously and though I prefer new worlders, I'm willing to delve into African species. What do you suggest?

i'd say get some keyholes or a firemouth, a rainbow would look nice

And each of these species would be suitable as a pair in a tank of this size with the catfish?

You should look into salvini's. They are awesome fish, and stunning colors! And they would fit nicely in a 37g :)
