i have a dilemma. my dovii babies are eating their parents fins, especially the father's top fins, when he flexes his fins, it looked like someone ran a whipper snipper across his entire back:WHOA:
i wanted to move all of the babies, bu i fear that he might kill his partner as it happened before:cry:

so what to do??? it took me 6 months for him to accept her, now they've finally bred for the first time, if i separate the pair, he might not recognize her anymore and will try to kill her.:(:(:(

any suggestion?

how many fry and how large are they? you could try removing a small amount at first and see how he reacts. then slowly remove more and more over a week or two

Is it possible to house some dithers with the pair? This may help keep the male occupied, and allow you to remove the fry.

+1, just dont remove them all at once, you could also just use an egg crate divider that way they are still in the same tank but he cant get to her (and if she is much smaller than him then you could cut holes in the egg crate that she can get through but he can't GOOD LUCK
